BETHASONE : is a white cream, containing Betamethasone (as valerate) 0.1 % w/w
PHARMOCOLOGY : Betamethasone is a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity. It has potent anti-inflammatory. It is used for topical application in the treatment of various skin disorder.
INDICATION: BETHASONE is indicated for the topical treatment of inflammatory and allergic of skin disorder such as eczema(including atopic, infantile and discoid eczema), contact dermatitis, psoriasis(excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), neurodermatitis(including lichen simplex, lichen planus) and seborrheic dermatitis
RECOMMENDED DOSE: Apply a small quantity to the effected area twice daily until improvement occured, then the dosing frequency may be decreased to once daily.
CONTRAINDICATION: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the preparations. Rosacea and acne vulgaris. Do not use in the treatment of primarily infected skin lesions caused by an infection with fungi or bacteria or in dermatoses in children under one year of age, including dermatitis or napkin eruptions.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS: Prolonged and intensive treatment with highly active corticosteroid preparations may cause local skin burning and pruritus, skin atrophy, striae, allergic contact dermatitis, change in pigmentation, an dilation of the superficial blood vessels. Prolonged and large amount of corticosteroid can results in sufficient systemic absorption to produce hypercortisolism symptoms(eg. moon face, facial hair growth). Hypersensitivity reactions may occured, if signs of hypersensitivity appear, application should stop immediately.
INSTRUCTION FOR PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN WITH PHIMOSIS : Apply and massage the phimotic skin with little amount of 0.1% betamethasone valerate cream twice daily for 2 months. You should apply cream on foreskin especially the most tight ring. Stretching of tight foreskin ( Phimosis ) will be done before cream usage to achieve good result.
